FAQ
An ergometer is a stationary training device that is primarily used for endurance training and rehabilitation. It simulates the movement sequences of cycling, whereby the resistance can be individually adjusted. Unlike an exercise bike, an ergometer measures power in watts, which enables precise and controlled training. Modern models have programs that are tailored to heart rate, fitness goals or wattage control.
The main difference between an ergometer and a classic exercise bike is the precise power measurement in watts. While exercise bikes are mostly aimed at fitness beginners and occasional training, ergometers, such as the STIL-FIT ergometers, offer precise control and are also suitable for ambitious athletes or rehabilitation measures. Ergometers often have a more extensive range of functions, such as programs for heart rate control or compatibility with fitness apps.
An ergometer is a versatile training device and is suitable for beginners, advanced users and athletes alike. It is often used by people who want to strengthen their cardiovascular system, lose weight or improve their stamina. An ergometer is also particularly recommended for senior citizens, as it is easy on the joints, as well as for people in rehabilitation after injuries.
An ergometer offers numerous advantages: It enables joint-friendly and individually adaptable training, strengthens the cardiovascular system and promotes regeneration after injuries. It is also weather-independent and efficient for burning fat. Thanks to modern functions such as power measurement and app compatibility, training remains varied and precise.
For optimum results, it is advisable to train on an ergometer 3-5 times a week. Beginners can start with 20-30 minutes per session, while advanced users can increase their training time to 45-60 minutes. The key is to train in a heart rate range that suits you in order to achieve your goals – be it endurance building, fat burning or regeneration.
The number of calories you burn on an ergometer depends on your training intensity, body weight and training duration. On average, you can burn around 400 to 600 calories in one hour of moderate training. This figure can be increased further with more intensive training sessions, such as interval training. The pulse-controlled training programs of the STIL-FIT ergometers provide ideal support.
Training on an ergometer primarily works the leg muscles: quadriceps, calf muscles and hamstrings. The gluteal muscles are also activated. If you actively use the multifunctional handlebars, you also train your arm muscles and improve your posture as the back muscles are stabilized.
Yes, an ergometer can be a gentle training method for knee problems, as the strain on the joints is less than when running. The adjustable resistance allows you to adapt the load to your needs. Choose light to moderate intensity to promote blood circulation and strengthen the muscles without overloading the joints. STIL-FIT ergometers can be fitted with so-called Vario cranks that allow you to individually adjust the bending angle of your knee. If in doubt, seek advice from a doctor.
Yes, an ergometer is ideal for rehabilitation. It enables joint-friendly training and can be individually adapted to gently build up muscles, promote blood circulation and improve mobility. Thanks to the adjustable resistance levels and precise power measurement, it is ideal for various rehabilitation goals, e.g. after operations or for joint problems.
The ergometers come almost completely pre-assembled to your home. You only need to plug a cable connection, insert the handlebar unit and handlebar.
